A powerful Mohawk OV-1 stands out against the night sky as it carries out its mission over enemy territory. The full moon looks like it’s close enough for the crew to touch. And what’s that in the starry sky? Look closely and you might discover a new constellation.
The Grumman OV-1 Mohawk is an armed military observation and attack aircraft that was designed for battlefield surveillance and light strike capabilities. It carries two crew members in side-by-side seating. The Mohawk began as a joint Army-Marine program through the then-Navy Bureau of Aeronautics, for an observation/attack plane that would outperform the Cessna L-19 Bird Dog.
